History & Population
Newport Beach is made up of Upper Bay and Lower Bay of Newport created by a stream during the ice age period, and by sand from ocean currents, respectively. Newport Beach is in Orange County, incorporated in 1906 with a population of 206 citizens. In 1923, Corona del Mar was annexed, in 2002, Newport Coast, East Santa Ana Heights, and San Joaquin Hills and in 2008, West Santa Ana Heights. As of 2020 the population of Newport Beach had grown to 85,239.
