A personal connection to care.
Kate helped care for her grandmother, Angelina, while she lived with Alzheimer’s disease. She has written about that relationship and the difficulty of watching someone close to her need more help.
That experience helped shape the reason for starting SeniorCareHomes.com: to help families understand their options when they are looking for independent living, assisted living, or memory care.
Her work at SeniorCareHomes.com
Her background includes customer service, health services, and finance, with earlier roles at Citibank, PeopleSupport, and WellPoint.
Kate is a certified Residential Care Facility for the Elderly administrator in California, certificate 7013357740 from the Department of Social Services.
She has also written senior-living guides for the site, including its assisted living cost guide. Her articles have appeared under her full name, Catharine Allado.
Writing and community involvement
Kate and Win wrote the chapter on retirement living and senior care in The Six Secrets to a Happy Retirement, a guide to the transition edited by Mark Singer.
The Herald-Standard has quoted Kate on downsizing and the adjustments older adults face when moving. Kate and Win have also served on an event committee for UCI MIND, the University of California, Irvine’s institute for memory impairments and neurological disorders.
