Understanding Medicare is a health insurance program for people:
What Services Does Medicare Cover?
Medicare covers certain medical services and supplies in hospitals, doctors’ offices, and other health care settings. Services are either covered under Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) or Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance).
Understanding Medicare has 2 parts:
Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance)
Medicare Part A helps cover the following:
How You Get Part B:
Note: If you don’t want Part B, follow the instructions that come with the card, and send the card back. If you keep the card, you keep Part B and will pay Part B premiums.
Understanding Medicare can help you choose different ways to get the services covered. Depending on where you live, you may have different choices. You may want to consider a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan to add drug coverage. Or, you may want to consider a Medicare Advantage Plan (like an HMO or PPO) that provides all your Part A, Part B, and often Part D coverage.
